Corrections & Clarifications Policy

How Wider Brief promptly and transparently rectifies factual inaccuracies.

Commitment to Transparency

While our journalists and desk editors strive for rigorous precision in every report, errors of fact can occur under rapid breaking-news deadlines. When an error is identified, Wider Brief corrects it promptly, visibly, and without evasion. We do not quietly overwrite history or unpublish articles without clear public notice.

How Corrections Are Handled

1. Factual Corrections

When a substantive factual assertion (names, dates, figures, locations, or legal claims) is corrected, an explicit editor’s note is appended to the bottom or top of the article detailing the change, the exact nature of the previous error, and the timestamp of rectification.

2. Clarifications

If an article was factually accurate but phrased in a manner that created a misleading impression, the language is clarified, and a clarification note is appended.

3. Retractions

In rare circumstances where an article fails fundamental editorial standards of evidence, the story is formally retracted with a signed statement from the Editor-in-Chief explaining why the story was withdrawn while preserving the public record.

Requesting a Correction

Readers, subjects of reporting, or official representatives who believe a factual error has appeared in our reporting should email corrections@widerbrief.com with:

  • The URL and headline of the story.
  • The exact phrase or statistic believed to be in error.
  • Primary documentation or verifiable public records corroborating the correct information.
