In an unprecedented demonstration of inter-party dialogue, leaders representing major political parties and civic coalitions concluded a marathon three-day consultative convention in Dhaka, unveiling a unified reform charter aimed at institutionalizing electoral integrity.
The joint resolution emphasizes four cornerstone reforms: statutory financial autonomy for the Election Commission, complete depoliticization of field-level police appointments during election windows, transparent ballot counting protocols, and equal broadcasting access on state media.
"Democratic legitimacy cannot be engineered; it must be earned through transparent processes where the citizen's ballot is sacrosanct and verifiable," read the joint communique.
The charter will be formally transmitted to the interim national reform commissions as a foundational reference for upcoming legal amendments.
