In an unexpected press conference held late Sunday evening, Ishraque Hossain announced his voluntary resignation from party positions, clarifying that the decision was entirely his own and not precipitated by party directives.

Addressing reporters at his central office, he highlighted that his unwavering anti-narcotics enforcement drives and community security initiatives had provoked organized resistance from entrenched syndicates.

"The party leadership never sought my departure. I chose to step aside so that independent judicial reviews can proceed without any institutional perception of bias," he stated firmly.

Party senior leaders expressed surprise at the announcement, with an emergency standing committee session convened to review the formal resignation letter submitted to the secretary general.
